Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is one of 2016’s most highly anticipated movies, and it’s also shaping up to be one of the biggest. Up until now, that was really down to the fact that this release is going to unite the Justice League, but its budget also looks set to make Batman V Superman possibly the most expensive movie of all-time, if a new report is to be believed.

According to Latino-Review, the budget has apparently spiralled out of control to a whopping $410 million, a figure which puts it up there with Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. If true, Warner Bros. have got to be hoping that Batman V Superman ends up grossing upwards of $1 billion, something which shouldn’t be too difficult given the fact that the film is going to feature two DC Comics icons coming to blows on the big screen for the very first time. That’s something that even non-comic book fans are going to want to check out.

So, why has Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice cost so much? It apparently comes down to “the addition of big name cast members, practical sets, and an extended production schedule.” That’s understandable, but don’t go thinking the studio will be laying down a similar amount for the two Justice League movies. Those are expected to only cost around $500 million combined, a far more restrained figure.

After much hype and anticipation, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice will finally hit theatres on March 25th, 2016.
