Next year will see Spider-Man make his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe when he appears in Captain America: Civil War, played by British actor Tom Holland (The Impossible). The hunt for the iconic wall-crawler kept comic book fans on tenterhooks for most of this year, and the choice of Holland to follow Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield was met with a very positive response.
When Hey U Guys caught up with the actor earlier today, they asked him about what it was like to take on the role of Spider-Man, and after revealing that Thor star Chris Hemsworth called to offer him advice on his impending superstardom, Holland recalled a recent injury he sustained on the set of Captain America: Civil War.
“No, no violence. It was my own mistake. I basically fell over and bashed my face in front of about two hundred crew members, so not my most heroic moment! It was luckily just before my last shot; they were like, ‘Roll cameras!’, I was getting into position, everything went wrong, and they still did the take anyway. It looks great and they’ll probably just CGI out all the blood, and yeah, I was very lucky.”
That sounds very nasty, and explains the markings across his face in the video above. Holland also reveals that he’ll be taking inspiration from the previous live-action Spider-Man movies, though pointed out that his hope is to bring something “new and exciting” to the role of the iconic superhero.
