There had been some speculation as to whether or not Harvey Keitel would be in Wes Anderson‘s upcoming film Moonrise Kingdom, but now it has been confirmed by several sources that he will indeed be starring in the film. Nothing is currently known about Keitel’s role, but he has been spotted alongside Bill Murray on the set of the film.

This will be the first time that Keitel has worked with Anderson. He joins a cast that also includes Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, and Jason Schwartzman, as well as newcomers Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward.

Gilman and Hayward will star as a young couple who fall in love. After they run away, “a search commences for them in a 1960s New England coastal town.”

The film, which is rumored to be aiming for a summer 2012 release, will mark Anderson’s return to live-action after his foray into animation with the excellent Fantastic Mr. Fox. Wes Anderson is one of those directors that rarely disappoints. His filmography includes other great films like Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums with his only let down so far being The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. Moonrise Kingdom is yet another film that I must add to an already crowded list of highly-anticipated films coming out in 2012.
