Journey Back To Wonderland With Latest Teaser For Alice Through The Looking Glass

Time was of the essence over the course of the weekend in North America, with November 1 bringing to an end daylight savings and a precious extra hour spent in bed along with it. Clearly unaffected by the fall back, Disney has unveiled the second all-too-brief teaser for its upcoming feature Alice Through the Looking Glass, which beckons you back to the fantastical realm of Wonderland.

Unveiled via the studio’s official Twitter account, the teaser indulges in Lewis Carroll’s beloved fantasy tales and allows Mia Wasikowska’s Alice to visit some of the seminal characters from Tim Burton’s 2010 live-action feature at different points in their lives – hence the title.

Crucial to this storyline is newcomer Sacha Baron Cohen, who plays the personification of Time, bestowing Alice with the ability to hop between time periods on a whim. Also returning from Burton’s 2010 feature are Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Helena Bonhan Carter as the Red Queen and Anne Hathaway as the White Queen.

Directed by James Bobin, the script for Alice Through the Looking Glass will be produced by Linda Wolverton, who is very much angling the May release as a prequel, exploring the whimsical world of Underland. Beyond that, there’s also some family matters to attend to, with Zanik Hightopp (Rhys Ifans) joining the ranks as the Mad Hatter’s father.

James Bobin’s spin on a classic tale will hit theaters next year when Alice Through the Looking Glass opens on May 27, 2016. Now that the second teaser has hit the interwebs, we expect the full trailer to be released imminently.

Director James Bobin brings his own unique vision to the spectacular world Tim Burton created on screen in 2010 with “Alice in Wonderland,” in which Alice (Wasikowska) returns to the whimsical world of Underland and travels back in time to save the Mad Hatter. The film, which once again features Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter and the voices of Alan Rickman, Stephen Fry, Michael Sheen and Timothy Spall, introduces several new characters as well: Zanik Hightopp (Rhys Ifans), the Mad Hatter’s father, and Time.
