Destiny Is Now The Most Watched Console Game On Twitch

Destiny's success seems to be never-ending right now. Not only has the hugely successful launch of the game's Taken King expansion back in September bolstered player ranks to well over 25 million registered users, but it's now officially "the most watched console game on Twitch", says Activision.

Destiny‘s success seems to be never-ending right now. Not only has the hugely successful launch of the game’s Taken King expansion back in September bolstered player ranks to well over 25 million registered users, but it’s now officially “the most watched console game on Twitch,” says Activision.

Of course, the key word in that statement is console – games like Blizzard’s Hearthstone and e-sports titles like League Of Legends still far outclass Destiny‘s viewer numbers.

In response to the news that Destiny has now surpassed 25 million registered players, Activision said:

Day-one downloads broke PlayStation records, day-one engagement saw the highest number of active players in Destiny’s history, daily player engagement is now well above 3 hours per day and the Destiny community has climbed to over 25 million registered players.

Bungie certainly seem to be heading in the right direction with the total overhaul brought to many of its systems in The Taken King, and the studio continues to support the massively-multiplayer online FPS with various events like the Iron Banner and Trials Of Osiris.

Interestingly, Activision also announced just last night that they have just acquired Candy Crush Saga developer King.com for a cool $5.9 billion. If you want to put that price into perspective, that’s more than what Disney paid for the acquisition of Lucasfilm. It’s a crazy world out there.
