Daniel Radcliffe, Anne Hathaway And Keanu Reeves Hit The High-Seas For The Modern Ocean

If indie filmmaker Shane Carruth (Primer, Upstream Color) is keen to make a lasting first impression at tomorrow's American Film Market, he's certainly assembled the star-studded cast to do so. If indie filmmaker Shane Carruth (Primer, Upstream Color) is keen to make a lasting first impression at tomorrow’s American Film Market, he’s certainly assembled the star-studded cast to do so. Not content with lining his upcoming maritime drama The Modern Ocean with the likes of Chloe Grace Moretz, Tom Holland, Asa Butterfield, Jeff Goldblum and Beasts of No Nation scene-stealer Abraham Attah, today brings word that Carruth and FilmNation have attracted Daniel Radcliffe, Anne Hathaway and John Wick star Keanu Reeves for the motion picture.

Set against the hyper-competitive market of shipping routes and the intense, all-consuming rivalries they spawn, The Modern Ocean is certainly a sprawling adventure on paper, and reports state that Carruth’s script is a 200-page tome replete with diagrams and various annotations. Billed as an “epic tale, fraught with danger and intrigue, takes us from the ancient trading houses of Algeria to the darkest depths of the ocean floor.”

Beyond that, though, there’s no word yet on who Reeves, Hathaway or Radcliffe will be playing in Carruth’s feature. What we do know is that the director will be rubbing shoulders with his cast members on the other side of the camera, while also completing the one-man operation by producing The Modern Ocean in tandem with Lawrence Inglee (The Day After Tomorrow) and Eyal Rimmon.

We can readily expect to learn much more about The Modern Ocean once the dust settles from tomorrow’s American Film Market event, though going off the ensemble cast, it almost goes without saying that Carruth’s latest is one we daren’t take our eye off.
