Somewhere, beyond the sea; somewhere waiting for you and me, is the very first trailer for Andrew Stanton’s animated sequel Finding Dory. Yes, as promised, Disney-Pixar have unveiled our first look at the director’s long-awaited maritime follow-up, and it’s one that sees Ellen DeGeneres’ titular character beginning to recall distant memories.
Dory is, of course, as clumsy as ever, with the footage revealing that she has a tendency to mumble general gibberish while dosing and even sleep-swim. But Nemo and Marlin begin to notice that our favorite Paracanthurus hepatus is subconsciously searching for her family, and Finding Dory appears to revolve around the title character finding a way back home – and likely getting lost along the way.
[zergpaid]Prior to today’s reveal, Pixar President Jim Morris offered an inkling about the sequel’s general set-up, indicating that Dory was actually raised in an artificial tank in the California Marine Biology Institute.
“The movie will be mostly set at the California Marine Biology Institute, a huge complex of sea life rehabilitation and aquarium, where Dory was born and raised. We will get to meet new characters, like an octopus, sea lions, a beluga whale, among others.”
Heralding a colorful array of new characters – octopi, sea lions and a beluga whale are all include – Finding Dory boasts a star-studded ensemble in the voice booth, with Ellen DeGeneres, Albert Brooks, Ed O’Neill, Kaitlin Olson, Ty Burrell, Eugene Levy and Diane Keaton all lining Pixar’s much-anticipated sequel.
