Summit Entertainment is gearing up to unveil the maiden trailer for Allegiant, the hotly-anticipated penultimate chapter in The Divergent Series, which is due to hit the interwebs tomorrow. To stoke excitement ahead of time, however, the studio has taken to Twitter to showcase a blink-and-you’ll-miss it teaser, hinting at the post-apocalyptic battles that await out on the decimated plains of Chicago.

Continuing on Summit’s high-profile adaptation of Veronica Roth’s acclaimed, best-selling series, the sequel previously known as Allegiant – Part 1 will pick up shortly after the events of its predecessor, Insurgent, as Tris, Four and the remainder of our Initiates discover that the only means of saving their beleaguered city is to venture beyond its towering walls and into the wasteland. However, today’s snippet reveals that the trip will be anything but a picnic.

Returning in the director’s chair is Robert Schwentke, and both he and Summit Entertainment will be hoping for a more impressive haul at the box office when the threequel arrives in March. Insurgent pulled in with an international total that was just shy of $300 million, which is by no means a failure, but it is notably lower than The Maze Runner and the grand-daddy of this new wave of YA movies: Liosngate’s The Hunger Games. Can Schwentke’s latest spur the franchise to box office stardom? Time will tell.

Also making a return are Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Octavia Spencer and Naomi Watts topline the cast, while Allegiant recently recruited The Newsroom‘s Jeff Daniels.

After undergoing a subtle name change, Summit Entertainment will debut Allegiant to the moviegoing masses come March 18, 2016, while Ascendant will conclude the YA franchise in earnest the following year on March 24, 2017. Check back tomorrow when we’ll have full coverage of the maiden trailer.

After the earth-shattering revelations of INSURGENT, Tris must escape with Four and go beyond the wall enclosing Chicago. For the first time ever, they will leave the only city and family they have ever known in order to find a peaceful solution for their embroiled city. Once outside, old discoveries are quickly rendered meaningless with the revelation of shocking new truths. Tris and Four must quickly decide who they can trust as a ruthless battle ignites beyond the walls of Chicago which threatens all of humanity. In order to survive, Tris will be forced to make impossible choices about courage, allegiance, sacrifice and love.
