It’s been a huge year for Major Lazer, and the dance music trio fronted by Diplo shows no signs of slowing down. The group just dropped a new remix of their own track “Light It Up” off their full length LP Peace Is The Mission, which was released earlier this year and led by the hugely successful single “Lean On” with DJ Snake.

The new remix opens with chopped up trumpet samples and Caribbean bell sounds, enhancing the dancehall influences that underscored the original track. Nyla’s electronically altered voice dominates the voices, dropping out during the horn led drops to make way for the infectious, Hip Hop infused beats. Major Lazer fills the new remix with upbeat, islandy vibes and celebratory melodies.

Cutting out the spastic arpeggios and mind bending sirens of the Moombah influenced original version, the group achieves the rare feat of delivering a remix that actually surpasses the original. With it’s sun soaked vocals and uplifting mood, Major Lazer‘s new remix of “Light It Up” is the perfect soundtrack to warm up your winter woes.
