Well here’s some interesting news. After the announcement of the Wii U, Nintendo experienced a massive drop in their stock. CVG tells us that their stock dropped as much as 7.5% in Osaka trading. Guess those investors weren’t too happy with the Wii U.

“There were high expectations from the new version of the Wii and this fell far short,” Yusuke Tsunoda, an analyst at Tokai Tokyo Securities said. “People had expected to see something more at a big event like the E3, but there wasn’t really anything more than what’s already reported.”

I do agree with him. The Wii U looks neat but it’s not really what Nintendo needs or really what gamers wanted from them, at least in my opinion.

In other Wii U news, a listing revealed that the console may cost a whopping $654. They’ve also marked it for a July 20th, 2012 release. Now of course this is still early so it’s likely that the price will come down before it launches. The PS3 launched at around $700 but still, there is no way Nintendo can get away with selling the Wii U for that price. Who would buy it? Not me, not in a million years. That’s an outrageous price point and it better not be the official one or else Nintendo may have a tough time selling this thing.

What do you think? Too expensive, or fair price?
