While Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer are busy cooking up their own self-scripted rendition of a siblings comedy, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will soon stage their own family reunion for Sisters.
Coming by way of Universal, the studio today released a new clip for the uproarious comedy, and it’s clear that Fey and Poehler’s latest collaboration is being angled in a similar vein to Bridesmaids and Pitch Perfect. Indeed, Jason Moore, director of the latter feature film, is on board to direct Sisters, which has the two actresses star as a pair of disconnected siblings who come together upon learning of their parents’ decision to sell the family home.
Struggling to come to terms with the loss of their childhood abode, Fey and Poehler deem that there’s only one thing that’ll serve as an adequate send-off: an epic party. And so, the remainder of the trailer is essentially a sizzle reel of the pair indulging in the kind of shenanigans that wouldn’t look out of place at a high school party – and of course, there’s a gag or two made about Fey and Poheler’s respective ages.
Also starring Maya Rudolph, Ike Barinholtz, John Leguizamo, Dianne Wiest, John Cena and James Brolin, Sisters will touch down in theaters on December 18, which ought to attract the portions of the audience that aren’t interested in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and its record-breaking ticket hauls.
