With exactly one week until its debut, DICE has teased the contents included in The Battle of Jakku, the maiden DLC pack for Star Wars Battlefront that will subtly tie into J.J. Abrams’ The Force Awakens.

Due to launch for those who pre-ordered the shooter on December 1, it’s now been confirmed that the first content pack for Battlefront will introduce an all-new 40-player game mode called Turning Point. Expect to see airspeeders and AT-STs featured in the mode, which will task the Rebel Alliance with securing a trio of control points scattered across the sun-scorched plains.

Should you take up arms as the Empire, your mission will be to scupper any assault, with those on the dark side of the Force having access to a “make-shift base as well as smaller fortifications strewn across the landscape.”

Set against the fallout from the Battle of Endor glimpsed in Return of the Jedi, DICE is aiming to double down on the game’s startling commitment to realism, and Battle of Jakku will only envelope users in the galactic warfare. Taking to the studio’s blog, Concept Artist Anton Grandert spoke more DICE’s desire to tell a story with Star Wars Battlefront, be it across land, air or desert.

“We wanted to portray a battle completely surrounding you, in every direction. Debris is falling from the sky, telling the story of battles above. On the surface of the planet you can see ground troops as well as X-wings, all taking part of the fight.”

In anticipation of the expansion’s arrival, DICE will showcase the first gameplay from Battle of Jakku on November 30. Still on the fence about Star Wars Battlefront? Then be sure to check out our review.
