After schooling bad guys in the deft art of close-quarters combat on the rooftops, today’s brand new batch of set photos for Bourne 5 see Matt Damon take to the streets, presumably on the hunt of a possible lead.

Hopping from Spain to London and now to Germany, Damon’s grizzled Jason Bourne returns to the fray, reuniting with director Paul Greengrass following the pair’s work across both The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum. Set to arrive almost a decade after the release of Ultimatum, early reports tease that Greengrass’ soft reboot will be situated in a post-Snowden world, exploring some of the pressing themes of information control, democracy and cyber-security in the year 2015.

As for today’s new set photos, Coming Soon confirms that filming is taking place in Kreuzberg, Germany, with action veteran Vinzenz Kiefer lending a hand as a stunt double. Now that Jeremy Renner’s agent Aaron Cross quietly discontinued – at least for the time being – we’re eagerly anticipating the return of Damon’s roguish lead, and he’ll be rubbing shoulders with a cast that includes The Man From U.N.C.L.E.‘s Alicia Vikander, Tommy Lee Jones, Nightcrawler breakout Riz Ahmed, Vincent Cassell and Julia Stiles.

Plot specifics may be blocked away in the highest of high-security enclosures, but the general premise of Bourne 5 seems to revolve around Jason Bourne rediscovering fleeting fragments of his lost memory, which ought to bring a sense of closure to his gruelling globetrotting journey.

“[Bourne] has his memory back, but that doesn’t mean he knows everything. It’s 12 years since Jason Bourne has been on the grid. So we have to answer the questions, Where’s he been? What’s he doing? What gets him going again? So once we solved all that, then we had a movie.”

On the hunt for answers and an official title, Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass’ Bourne 5 is set to make a break for theaters on July 15, 2016.
