Nintendo Pleases Fans By Announcing Pikmin 3 For Wii U

Fans have been clamoring for Pikmin 3 since the series' last release back in 2004. It's been dormant since that date, without any news of an in-development title or a planned sequel. Well, until now, that is. Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that Nintendo is hard at work on Pikmin 3 for its recently-revealed Wii U high-definition console. The news was announced during a company roundtable event yesterday, in Los Angeles.

Fans have been clamoring for Pikmin 3 since the series’ last release back in 2004. It’s been dormant since that date, without any news of an in-development title or a planned sequel. Well, until now, that is.

Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that Nintendo is hard at work on Pikmin 3 for its recently-revealed Wii U high-definition console. The news was announced during a company roundtable event yesterday, in Los Angeles.

“As we have been working on the Wii U hardware I have been thinking that it is the perfect system for Pikmin, so we are going to make it on that,” he said (courtesy of ONM). “Because we have been working on Pikmin on Wii for a while, maybe it won’t take too long for it to be finished.”

It’s great news for fans who have been hoping for a new entry in the unique series, for the last seven years or so. The only time the colourful creatures and their strange planet were heard from in that time was when a Wii re-release of the series’ two titles hit store shelves.
