Adam McKay Teases Involvement With Ant-Man And The Wasp

Following the departure of Edgar Wright, Paul Rudd and Adam McKay teamed up to work on his and Joe Cornish's Ant-Man screenplay. Following the departure of Edgar Wright, Paul Rudd and Adam McKay teamed up to work on the Ant-Man screenplay. A number of major alterations were made (The Wasp was added as was The Falcon), and now that the movie has grossed over $500 million worldwide, you have to believe that Marvel Studios is keen on reuniting Rudd and McKay for 2018’s Ant-Man and The Wasp.

Will McKay return for the sequel, though? Here’s what he had to say in a recent interview when asked about his possible involvement with the Peyton Reed-helmed release:

“We haven’t officially done any kind of deal, but I had so much fun working on that movie that I told [Paul] Rudd and I told Marvel: “Any time you want me, I’m there.” It may be a case where they go develop a script and then in the end Rudd and I come in and rewrite it. I have no idea. Or maybe they’ll get a great script and I can just sit back and enjoy. Yeah, it was really fun working with [Marvel Studios President] Kevin Feige. He’s a sharp dude.”

As you may remember, McKay was at one point asked to direct Ant-Man, but decided against it as he didn’t feel comfortable taking the reigns at such a late stage. Would he helm another Marvel movie, though?

“We talked about it. We kicked around ideas. I don’t think there was any one specific one. I mean, from our company Gary Sanchez, we like the idea of creating a new superhero. So we’re working on that right now. We have a couple ideas in the pipeline. Marvel is awesome and Feige’s awesome. So any chance to work with them I’ll do”

McKay has been suggested for Inhumans a number of times by fans, so it should be very interesting to see if he gets involved with that in any way. For now, though, we can at least look forward to him working on Ant-Man and The Wasp.
