Sony Japan and From Software have announced that the Bloodborne servers are now offline for a spell of “emergency maintenance,” which is expected to last a few days.
It’s worth noting that during this time the PlayStation 4 exclusive remains playable offline, though any online modes and drop-in/drop-out multiplayer integration will be unavailable. The official statement released by From is as follows:
We are currently conducting emergency maintenance on the game servers. The maintenance should be complete within a few days. We will update you again once the maintenance ends. We apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for playing Bloodborne.
From Software didn’t go into the specifics of the maintenance, though as Kotaku points out, Lead Hosting Engineer Tim Wernicke took to Reddit to reveal that fans who purchased the recently-released Old Hunters DLC for the RPG had encountered an “exploit and serious issues” within the expansion. In light of user feedback, the developer then opted to take down the servers in order to rectify the situation, one which reportedly allowed players to unlock the content included in The Old Hunters add-on for free.
