Final Fantasy XV is now out of pre-beta and fully playable from start to finish, according to one of the game’s programmers, Satoshi Kitade. As part of a translation made by Gematsu of a post made by Kitade on the game’s official forums, he said:

We’re at the point where we can play the game in its entirety from start to finish. From this, everyone on the development team can get an overall view on the game. The first half of the game is finished with the quality of a final product, and you get the sense you’re playing it in its final form.

The news will come as a relief to many a Final Fantasy fan after the tumultuous development process the game has been through. Starting life as Final Fantasy Versus XIII, the project subsequently underwent some drastic changes midway, and was renamed to be a main series entry i.e. Final Fantasy XV.

Square Enix are still yet to announce a firm release date for the title, and are staying tight-lipped beyond confirming that it will see the light of day at some point in 2016. However, don’t expect to see it release any earlier than March, as the company plans to reveal the full release date at a “special event” in the same month.
