Revealed today at Sony’s San Francisco-based PlayStation Experience was Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, a game that invites players to be “whisked away on an enchanting adventure.” Featuring “an all new cast of charming characters, an emotional storyline and innovative gameplay design,” the sequel’s existence is great news for those who fell in love with Level-5’s charming 2013 RPG.

“With its emotional storytelling, innovative gameplay, and breathtaking aesthetics, the original Ni no Kuni broke new ground in the RPG genre and became one of the most beloved and well-received games of 2013,” said Eric Hartness, Vice President of Marketing at BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America Inc. “With Ni no Kuni II: REVENANT KINGDOM, the artistic visionaries behind the first game are back to take their creative vision of a grand adventure to even higher heights that are sure to delight video game fans.”

Little is really known about Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, but it doesn’t seem as if Studio Ghibli — the renowned animation house that worked on the first game and is responsible for hit films like Spirited Away — is attached to the project. There is a trailer, though, and its animation looks to be on point.

Expect to hear more about Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom in the months to come, and even though little is known right now, take solace in the fact that the sequel is confirmed for a North American release.
