DC's Legend of Tomorrow is easily one of 2016's most highly anticipated superhero projects, which is no easy feat in a year which sees the release of movies like Captain America: Civil War and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. DC’s Legend of Tomorrow is easily one of 2016’s most highly anticipated superhero projects, which is no easy feat in a year which sees the release of movies like Captain America: Civil War and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Anticipation is already sky high for the show, and now, we have yet another reason to be excited about the Arrow/The Flash spinoff.

Arrow showrunner Marc Guggenheim has confirmed on Twitter that Joe Dante, the director responsible for Gremlins and Gremlins 2, will be helming an episode of Legends of Tomorrow.

Dante will get behind the camera for the eighth instalment (titled “Night of the Hawk”), which will be written by Sarah Nicole Jones and Cortney Norris. No story details have been revealed as of yet, though it seems pretty obvious that Hawkman and/or Hawkgirl will be taking centre stage here. Of course, it’s also been reported that Oliver Queen’s son Connor Hawke will be featured in Legends of Tomorrow, so it’s possible that this is a vague reference to him, too.

Dante has a pretty long list of TV credits to his name, includes shows like Salem and Hawaii Five-0. His involvement with Legends of Tomorrow perhaps points to the event series having more of a cinematic feel than Arrow and The Flash, and what the filmmaker brings to the table here promises to be very interesting indeed.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow premieres on The CW on January 21st.
