With 2015 quickly coming to a close, you’d be forgiven for thinking that Kygo was done racking up his achievements and accomplishments for the year. Well, think again, as the Norwegian producer has one more proverbial trophy to add to his cabinet now that Spotify has named him the fastest artist to rack up over one billion plays.

Thanks in part to 300 million streams on “Firestone” and “Stole the Show,” the DJ made his way to 1 billion and then some in roughly a year – a very impressive feat, indeed. Couple that with being named the streaming service’s Breakout Artist of 2015, and it’s clear that Spotify and Kygo have a long, fruitful relationship ahead of them.

Speaking about the recent accomplishment, Ultra Music President, Patrick Moxey, said:

“Kygo brings quality musicianship and songs as well as a magnificent feel for melody to Electronic music in an unparalleled way. As one of the most exciting new artists in the world, it comes as no surprise that Kygo is breaking records and barriers across the musical landscape.”

With a debut album set for 2016, expect the Kygo train to keep rolling full steam ahead. And after the stellar 2015 that he had, we cannot wait to see what the future holds for the incredibly talented producer.
