Brooding Character Posters For Allegiant Put Tris And Four’s Love To The Test

Summit Entertainment already rolled out the barnstorming first trailer for The Divergent Series: Allegiant little over a month ago, though the studio is ensuring that Robert Schwentke’s threequel remains firmly on our collective radar as we enter the holiday season.

Putting the bond between Tris and Four – Shailene Woodley and Theo James, respectively – to the sword, today’s brand new one-sheets paint a dramatic scene between the lovestruck pair, who are forced to venture beyond the towering walls of post-apocalyptic Chicago in search of the elusive Bureau of Genetic Welfare.

With the core four powers of Dauntless, Amity, Erudite and Abnegation beginning to question their own place in the city, Woodley and James’ core characters find themselves on the run once again from Kate Winslet’s power-mongering Jeanine and the rest of the Erudites, and the aforementioned first trailer embraced its YA tropes with two open arms. But can it sidestep the pacing problems that many two-part finales – read: Harry Potter and The Hunger Games – fall foul to?

Joining them for the battle are Octavia Spencer, Naomi Watts, Jeff Daniels. Ray Stevenson, Zoë Kravitz, Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Maggie Q, Keiynan Lonsdale, Jonny Weston, Mekhi Phifer and Daniel Dae Kim, while Nadia Hilker and Bill Skarsgård join the ensemble cast as newcomers.

Summit Entertainment will begin its two-part conclusion to The Divergent Series next year with Allegiant, which is now on course to hit theaters on March 18, 2016. Following in quick succession is the ultimate chapter, Ascendant, and it’s coming a little more than a year later on March 24, 2017.

After the earth-shattering revelations of INSURGENT, Tris must escape with Four and go beyond the wall enclosing Chicago. For the first time ever, they will leave the only city and family they have ever known in order to find a peaceful solution for their embroiled city. Once outside, old discoveries are quickly rendered meaningless with the revelation of shocking new truths. Tris and Four must quickly decide who they can trust as a ruthless battle ignites beyond the walls of Chicago which threatens all of humanity. In order to survive, Tris will be forced to make impossible choices about courage, allegiance, sacrifice and love.
