Entertainment Weekly is the latest outlet to open another window in the proverbial Deadpool advent calendar, as 20th Century Fox’s marketing campaign begins to near its crescendo with the release of the film’s brand new trailer on Christmas Day.
And so, hot on the heels of Wade Wilson and T.J. Miller’s Weasel heralding the arrival of new footage, EW has premiered a pair of photos that place Colossus front and center.
[zergpaid]While reports had indicated as much in the past, EW formally confirmed that Colossus will feature a dual performance, too, with Stefan Kapicic lending his voice to the towering mutant and Andre Tricoteux acting as the stunt double. Speaking about the role and what director Tim Miller envisioned what Colossus could look like, Kapicic offered some new information about the physicality, along with the authentic Russian accent.
“Tim Miller’s idea of Colossus was to be bigger and stronger than everyone else,” Kapicic said. “So for the motion capture they needed an extremely tall man. I’m 6-foot-4, but he wanted Colossus to be over 7 feet, so they used a stunt double to recreate his height, and he did very good job there. Tim also wanted Colossus to sound as close as possible to the comic book character’s background, so he had me to come in, since my voice was what he envisioned for Colossus, who has an authentic Russian accent. My character’s voice gives him the past history as Piotr Rasputin once you hear him speak. This made him the most authentic to the original idea of the comic book character.”
Leading the charge as Marvel’s dastardly anti-hero is Ryan Reynolds, who has remain attached to the role of Wade Wilson ever since his poorly handled cameo in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
