Please note that spoilers will follow….

With a movie as big as Captain America: Civil War, there have inevitably been a lot of rumours and speculation about what’s to come. However, the biggest spoiler to date may have now found its way online, as a new report claims that the first Phase 3 release will end with the death of Steve Rogers, just like in the comic book storyline.

Apparently, Cap hands himself over to the authorities in exchange for his friends being given immunity, but is assassinated shortly after. Who kills him and how it happens hasn’t been revealed, but Captain America: Civil War is said to end with his funeral. Here’s where things get really interesting, though.

The site that broke this news (the same site responsible for those recent Iron Fist character descriptions) goes on to claim that three versions of the same scene have been shot, with Sebastian Stan (Bucky), Anthony Mackie (The Falcon), and Emily VanCamp (Sharon Carter) all making their intentions to take over the mantle of Captain America clear.

While common sense says that Captain America: Civil War will follow the comics by picking Bucky, there are two other very interesting possibilities to consider here, and Sharon taking over the mantle from Steve Rogers would be particularly interesting to see play out on the big screen, don’t you think?

Again, this is all to be filed strictly under the rumor category for now, but it definitely gives us some food for thought as we wait patiently for the film’s May release.
