First Official Images Of Snoke And Maz Kanata From Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Great care was taken not to unveil these two mysterious CG characters in the build-up to the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, so - a tiny glimpse of Maz on the first poster aside - these new stills from EW are actually our first officially released images of Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) and Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong'o) from the movie.

Great care was taken not to unveil these two mysterious CG characters in the build-up to the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, so – a tiny glimpse of Maz on the first poster aside – these new stills from EW are actually our first officially released images of Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) and Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong’o) from the movie.

Though they played important (albeit, small) roles in the story, we still know next to nothing about these two – but it’s been speculated that they will come to represent the full extent of the light and dark sides of the Force, despite Maz admitting that she’s not actually a Jedi.

Will they go on to be the Yoda and Emperor Palpatine of this new trilogy? Only time will tell, but it’s a safe bet we’ll see both of them again in some capacity, and don’t be surprised if a face-off is also on the cards.

Starring original cast members Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker, and franchise newcomers, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Lupita Nyong’o and Max von Sydow, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is now in theatres everywhere.
