Majesco’s reimagined take on the NES classic, A Boy and His Blob, is heading to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita and PC. The wait won’t be a long one, either, as – at the very least – the Xbox One version will be made available for purchase and play starting on January 20th.
After beginning its life on the Nintendo Entertainment System, A Boy and His Blob was remade and re-released onto the Wii in 2009, and ended up becoming an endearing favourite yet again. Now, it looks to become friends with a whole new audience on different modern devices. It will do so touting 1080p visuals and a 60 frames-per-second framerate, too.
For those who are unfamiliar with the game, A Boy and His Blob centres upon a child who comes into contact with a blob-like creature that has emigrated to Earth in search of help for his home planet. Together, the two must traverse obstacles and dangerous encounters, throughout a “robust and emotional story.” And, to do this, one must feed the Blob jellybeans, which allow him to transform into different things.
As someone who has never played the game, but has been wanting to since it was released on Wii, I’m definitely excited by this announcement and look forward to finally going hands-on with it.
