With the theatrical release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice just around the corner, merchandise for the film is now starting to flood retail establishments. If you do not happen to be a collector yourself, it is still possible that you have a friend who is just short of dancing in the streets due to the fact that they can now get their hands on toys tying into the film.

Something that happened to catch our eye is that of a comic book that is packaged in with a LEGO set. While it happens to be free of dialogue, I must say they did a tremendous job of telling a story through artwork alone from panel to panel. Although we can’t always put our stock in toys, some of what can be seen in the comic is consistent with film footage that has been released thus far.

Highlights include:

  • Batman uses a Kryptonite gun: In his battle with Superman, an armored Batman uses a gun that is strikingly similar to the one seen in the most recent trailer during the battle with Doomsday. While the use of a firearm has touched a nerve with many fans, it should be stated that Batman has been known to use guns at certain points, just not ones that fire bullets.
  • Batman takes down a common street thug: While this may seem like somewhat of a mundane notion, you can’t say a Dark Knight draped in shadow while stalking a criminal isn’t pretty cool. While his battle with Superman is what will sell tickets, seeing him get to do his thing in Gotham for even a brief period in the film will likely put a smile on the face of any Bat-fan.
  • The Trinity battles Lex Luthor’s helicopter: While not confirmed to be a scene in the movie, this is something we have previously seen in a LEGO set.

As for things on the official front, here’s the film’s synopsis:

Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

Starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, with Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, and Holly Hunter, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is directed by Zack Snyder, written by Chris Terrio from David S. Goyer’s screenplay.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens in theaters on March 25.
