A&E Network has nailed down premiere dates for both Bates Motel season 4 and Omen spinoff Damien, while renewing acclaimed docuseries Born this Way.
Word of the premiere dates came during the Television Critics Association press tour on Wednesday, confirming that both Bates Motel season 4 and the series premiere of Damien will air on Monday, March 7. The latter of which is being brought to the small screen via Executive Producer Glen Mazzara (The Walking Dead), chronicling the adult life of one Damien Thorn (Bradley James) who appears to be oblivious to his demonic roots. Also starring Barbara Hershey, Omid Abtahi, Megalyn E.K., Scott Wilson, David Meunier and Robin Weigert, A&E’s new drama will explore what happens when two decades of pent-up satanic forces begin to seep through the cracks.
Circling back to Bates Motel, season 4 welcomes back Vera Farmiga and Freddie Highmore as Norma and Norman Bates, respectively. Acting as A&E’s flagship drama, the dark Psycho prequel was rewarded with a two-season renewal early last year, and though viewing figures took a 20 percent dip across season 3, we’re still eagerly anticipating the return of Norma and her deranged son.
Finally, Born This Way, a series that charts the lives of seven young adults with Down Syndrome, has grown steadily since its debut in late 2015, and that strong first impression sealed the deal for season 2. In a statement, Elaine Frontain Bryant, Exec Vice President and Head of Programming at A&E welcomed the renewal for Born this Way: “We have been overwhelmed and moved by the feedback we’ve received for ‘Born This Way’ from viewers, as well as people with disabilities and their family members. It’s rare to be able to present a show that changes the way we see the world; we believe ‘Born This Way’ is one of those shows.”
Look forward to both Bates Motel season 4 and Damien debuting on A&E come March 7, while the sophomore outing of Born This Way isn’t expected to air until late 2016.
