Ratchet & Clank Return On PlayStation 4 In Europe On April 20

If you're new to the series (and let's face it, there's probably many of you who've never played the terrific adventure series), then this latest entry in the franchise isn't so much brand new as a 're-imagining' of the game that started it all in 2002. Stevenson says there's plenty of new stuff for long-time fans to get excited about though.

The long-awaited return of Ratchet & Clank on PlayStation 4 has been marked with an official date. April 12 will see Sony’s most famous duo return in a re-imagined version of their very first outing all those years ago on PlayStation 2. It’s been well over a decade since the anthropomorphic Ratchet and his trusted, robotic ally Clank first graced our TV screens, and hopefully the time off they’ve taken hasn’t soured our memories of them.

Speaking on the official European PlayStation blog, developer Insomniac Games community leader James Stevenson said:

Hey Ratchet & Clank fans, today we’re thrilled to announce that you’ll be able to pre-order Ratchet & Clank from… right this very moment, ahead of its launch on 15th April in France, and 20th April everywhere else in the PAL region. Check out the new packshot art below, directly from the artists at Insomniac Games, pretty cool, right?

Wondering what that last part’s about? Here you go, friends, here’s the finalized box art Stevenson is so happy about.

April 20 marks the big day for Ratchet & Clank fans residing in Europe, but those lucky enough to live in France will get access to the game on April 12. So what about a North American release date, you say? There’s been no word on that just yet, sadly, but you can expect a similar – if not identical – release date for other, non-European territories.

If you’re new to the series (and let’s face it, there’s probably many of you who’ve never played the terrific adventure series), then this latest entry in the franchise isn’t so much brand new as a ‘re-imagining’ of the game that started it all in 2002. Stevenson says there’s plenty of new stuff for long-time fans to get excited about though.

The first instalment of Ratchet & Clank for PS4 will tell a new version of the origin story many of you will remember. It features modern Ratchet & Clank controls, new planets, new and improved gameplay, all-new boss fights, new flight sequences and much, much more.

Coinciding with the major motion picture, the game tells the story from the perspective of Captain Qwark, so you can expect a different (more… Qwarktastic) twist on events. We hope that you’re looking forward to being able to romp around the Solana Galaxy once again with the whole gang – Ratchet, Clank, Qwark, Big Al, Dr. Nefarious, and the evil Chairman Drek, as well as many brand new characters – as much as we are!

Not long to go now, guys! Are you as excited about Ratchet & Clank as us? Regale us with your favourite moments from past games in the series in the comments below!
