While attending the Golden Globes awards ceremony on Sunday, Emilia Clarke was unsurprisingly quizzed about Game of Thrones season 6 – specifically about the concept of the TV series blazing past the books and the fate of a certain fallen character.
Speaking to E!, the award-winning actress offered precious few details about the upcoming and hotly-anticipated season, though she did promise that a string of “big moments” are in store. Spoilers to follow!
[zerg]Eagle-eyed fans have been pouring over every detail that’s slipped out of production on Game of Thrones to deduce whether Kit Harrington’s Jon Snow would return from the brink after he was killed mercilessly by rogue members of the Night’s Watch. Clarke, as expected, remains tight-lipped about the possibility of the fallen Lord Commander raising from the dead, though the actress did touch base with the announcement that George R.R. Martin’s Winds of Winter won’t be ready in time for April.
What that means is that Series Creators and Executive Producers David Benioff and Dan Weiss will be largely venturing into uncharted territory as HBO’s show continues to diverge from the books on which its based. E! later asked Clarke how the cast and crew are feeling about the paradigm shift, and she replied by saying that those involved with Game of Thrones are “excited, and nervous! But…yeah, excited and nervous. There’s something for everyone!”
Game of Thrones season 6 will premiere on HBO come April 24. Looking further afield, it’s understood that the network has already opened talks to lock down both seasons 7 and 8 of the acclaimed fantasy series.
