Fans who attended those early screenings of Deadpool last night were treated to both the entire movie and a Q&A session with Ryan Reynolds. Fielding queries about the future of the franchise, one fan shouted out “Cable and Deadpool,” something the actor responded to with a very intriguing tease.

Are we going to see the time travelling mutant team up with his comic book partner in the sequel? Here’s what Reynolds said:

“Your lips to God’s ears, my friend. Believe me, that’s being talked about.”

That’s no lie, either, as Tim Miller was recently quoted as saying that fans would likely lose it if Cable isn’t included in the sequel. It’s apparent then that everyone involved with Deadpool is well aware that him being included in the follow-up is a must, and unless Fox has plans for him in a X-Force movie (which we haven’t had a solid update on for years now), chances are we’ll see this become a reality.

Of course, that ultimately depends on whether Deadpool ends up being a box office success when it opens next month. The unique marketing campaign has certainly been a lot of fun, but it remains to be seen whether or not that translates into ticket sales.

Deadpool hits theatres on February 12th,.
