While Zoom may be the big bad of The Flash‘s second season, the spotlight of this evening’s instalment will be firmly on Eobard Thawne. He’s the villain who took centre stage last year while disguised as Dr. Harrison Wells, and thanks to the mysteries of time travel, the Reverse-Flash is back in the land of the living despite being erased from history.

However, this is a version of that villain from an earlier point in time, and it’s been said that the episode is essentially going to be his origin story.

For further details, here’s the synopsis for this instalment of The Flash (which is titled “The Reverse-Flash Returns”).

When Cisco (Carlos Valdes) gets a vibe of Eobard Thawne (guest star Matthew Letscher), Barry (Grant Gustin) and the team don’t believe it. But, after an attack at Mercury Labs, Christina McGee (guest star Amanda Pays) confirms that the Reverse Flash is back. Meanwhile, Iris (Candice Patton) and Francine (guest star Vanessa A. Williams) share a nice moment that brings Iris closer to her brother, Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale). Michael Allowitz directed the episode written by Aaron Helbing & Todd Helbing.

This is definitely going to be a big one then, and seeing how the Reverse-Flash’s story plays out and possibly sets the stage for more appearances should be a lot of fun.
