The next couple of years are going to be huge for Mark Millar. As well as having several comic book projects in the pipeline, he also has several properties being brought to the big screen. Marvel Studios, meanwhile, are just a few months away from releasing Captain America: Civil War, an adaptation of Millar’s best-selling event series which redefined how stories like that are told.

In a recent interview, the creator was asked just how closely he believes the movie is going to stick to his and Steve McNiven’s story, and while the trailer pointed to some obvious alterations, it sounds like the premise will remain mostly the same:

“They’ve added characters they have the rights to as some of their characters are scattered around different studios, but the main players and their chief lieutenants in this thing are all the same.”

Things are sounding good for Captain America: Civil War then, but what about Matthew Vaughn’s sequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service? Millar never penned a comic book sequel to that, so we have no idea what to expect, but it sounds like the writer is more than content to sit back and watch what the X-Men: First Class and Kick-Ass helmer delivers.

“Matthew [Vaughn] and Jane [Goldman] finished the screenplay before Christmas and the plan is for the movie to be shooting in the spring. I only wrote one book so this is a new, original stories, but the nice thing is Dave Gibbons [artist on the original comic book] and I still co-own the rights so we both get paid the same money regardless. It’s beautiful. The capitalist dream!”

It’s hard to argue with that! The Kingsman sequel is still a long way off, but Captain America: Civil War will be with us this May, and we can’t wait to see what Marvel has in store for us.
