FX president John Landgraf may have placed Louie on an unofficial hiatus last month, effectively pumping the breaks on Louis C.K.’s beloved series, but the actor-cum-comedian has now turned his attention to an all-new show called Horace and Pete.
Quietly launching via his official page, Louis C.K.’s black comedy centers around the titular Irish pub, where his character of Horace interacts with a variety of passers-by as they come and go. It’s a set-up that bears semblance to popular sitcom Cheers, allowing for a whole host of famous faces to pop in for a pint and a yarn. Of those who frequent the bar, C.K.’s Horace is joined by Steve Buscemi, Edie Falco, Rebecca Hall, Jessica Lange, Kurt Metzger and Steven Wright.
Weighing in at 67-minutes in length, to say that Horace and Pete launched to little fanfare would be the understatement of the year. Aside from a brief message from Louis C.K. himself – who wrote, directed and stars in the drama – directing fans to the official site, there wasn’t so much as an official synopsis describing the series itself. Over on the website, there appears to be three vacant slots below the pilot, indicating that Horace and Pete could shape up to be a four-part miniseries.
In terms of Louie‘s future, Landgraf was quoted last month as saying that “we still talk about making more seasons of ‘Louie’ with some regularity… We also had a conversation, maybe this is a show you’ll do periodically for the rest of your life. It could be one of those odd TV shows that has 15 seasons over 40 years. I don’t know what it might be.”
