Ever wonder what The Hunger Games would have looked like if it were a Tarantino movie? Well, with The Culling, you won’t have to wonder for much longer. The new survival battle royale from Xaviant LLC is coming to Steam Early Access very soon, and it looks simply horrifying in a new announcement trailer.

The footage, which you can check out above, does a great job of showcasing the chaotic fight for survival that will be at the centre of The Culling. The game is essentially a free for all, deathmatch style stage with added survival elements. You can explore the paradise island to find new equipment or crafting tools, and set traps and snares to help hold out in a fortified position.

Each game will last for up to twenty minutes, with one survivor crowned the victor at the end. The Culling is a title that Xaviant are clearly very proud of, with CEO Michael McMain saying the following about its development:

I asked a small, talented team to come up with their dream game and gave them the autonomy to build it. The Culling is the result of that effort. It has been the highlight of my career!

The Culling will bring its gruesome version of The Hunger Games to Steam Early Access from March 8th. And don’t worry, there isn’t likely to be a political snooze-fest or awkward love triangle stifling the action here.
