Elephante Sharpens His Tusks For “Black Ivory”

If you've been loving the diversity of all the latest future bass artists as much as we have, then Elephante's new track is exactly what you've been looking for. The Los Angeles-based DJ/producer remained relatively quiet on the release front since last year's "Age of Innocence," but his new track exhibits markedly more experimental musings.

“Black Ivory” extends the themes central to Elephante’s artist project into the form of a dissonant future bass track. Artfully sparse piano chords accompany 808 drum rolls and rubbery synths, all of which are occasionally punctuated by a sample of an elephant’s roar.

The artist himself classifies his slightly Glitch Mob-reminiscent departure from the future bass formula as “progressive bass.” Given his previous progressive house inclination, the name fits, and we would like to see more of the same from the talent in 2016.
