A short blurb on a LinkedIn member’s profile seems to have outed the existence of Sniper Elite 4. The details, found on the page of an employee at Chinese company ADIA Entertainment seem to reveal that the sequel is already in development.

With that said, developer for the Sniper Elite games, Rebellion, are being coy by neither confirming or denying its existence either way. Co-founder of the studio Jason Kingsley told VideoGamer.com that the team haven’t “announced a new entry in the Sniper Elite series,” but that they’re “gearing up to announce a new Rebellion game soon.”

To be honest we’re flattered that people are actively searching out for a new Sniper Elite title, and we certainly don’t mind being mentioned next to projects like Black Ops 3 and Unreal! However the person in question doesn’t work for Rebellion and we haven’t announced a new entry in the Sniper Elite series.

Last year we celebrated the Sniper Elite series’ 10th birthday and 10 millionth sale, so our IP is still hugely important to both Rebellion and independent UK games development. We’re actually gearing up to announce a new Rebellion game soon, so expect to hear more from us before GDC!

Unsurprisingly, Kingsley’s not quite ready to talk about whether Rebellion’s unannounced title is (or isn’t) a new Sniper Elite game, but it looks like we’ll know the truth either way next month: GDC runs from March 14 to 16 in San Francisco.

The Sniper Elite series has enjoyed huge success over the last few years, due in no small part to it capitalising on the popularity of putting bullets in hordes of undead with the spin-off Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army series. The last title in the franchise – Sniper Elite 3 – was released back in 2014 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
