After blowing up at the box office and nabbing Disney over $2 billion in box office receipts, J.J. Abrams’ space opera is headed to the small screen. That’s right, folks, after tentative rumors concerning the Blu-ray release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it’s now been confirmed that the sequel will be available to purchase on April 1, 2016.

Disney CEO Bob Iger made the announcement during the Mouse House’s annual company meeting in Chicago, revealing that the movie will be made available for digital download on April 1 followed by a Blu-ray/DVD release on April 6.

Unsurprisingly, that’s the extent of the official information from Iger as these types of rendezvous rarely deliver specifics. However, if you head on over to Target, you can find out exactly what’s included in the release and whether we’ll be getting all of those rumored special features. Elsewhere in a galaxy far, far away, talk has turned to Rian Johnson’s Episode VIII and in particular, how the movie will connect to its predecessor. Word on the grapevine suggests that the sequel picks up directly after The Force Awakens, as in, straight after that scene of Luke and Rey cuts to black.

One of the biggest mysteries left dangling revolves around the pair and has prompted much fan debate. Is Rey perhaps related to Luke Skywalker? While nothing official has gone on the record, Mark Hamill slyly addressed the matter of her parentage during a recent interview at the Oxford University Students’ Union. When asked about working alongside actress Daisy Ridley, he had this to say:

“Daisy is incredible, so genuine, appealing, lovable, she beams, she has a wonderful charisma, I adore her. She’s my daughter’s age – and that’s how I relate to her.”

Apparently, the audience gasped at that. Had he just dropped a spoiler? Hamill gave a wink and wryly added, “I don’t mean anything by that. As actors that’s how I relate to that.”

Sounds like he was covering his tracks to us, but what do you think? Could Skywalker be Rey’s father?
