Original Story: During production on Suicide Squad, Margot Robbie – perhaps still in character as the wonderfully deranged Harley Quinn – set up an impromptu tattoo parlor before adding some ink to her fellow cast members.
It was a means of commemorating their time spent prowling the streets as Task Force X, but it’s a style Warner Bros. has embraced arms wide open for the latest array of posters for David Ayer’s anti-hero feature.
As a matter of fact, Suicide Squad will be in attendance at next week’s SXSW film festival in Austin, Texas, with the film’s official Twitter account teasing that is “ready to leave its mark on #SXSW. #HarleysTattooParlor.”
It’s a neat marketing ploy from Warner, as it not only allows fans to pick a favorite anti-hero to call their own, but it lends each individual black ops operator some personality, even if we can’t help but feel that the likes of Diablo and Slipknot will be canon fodder come August.
What’s more, of all the characters to get a poster of their own, there’s no sign of a one-sheet dedicated to either Harley Quinn, Deadshot (Will Smith) or Jared Leto’s Clown Prince of Crime. As arguably the three key players of the ensemble, it could well be that WB is keeping their character posters under wraps until closer to release.
David Ayer’s Suicide Squad will unleash the worst of the worst on August 5. Meanwhile, SXSW refers to the annual South by Southwest festival, which is due to take place across March 11 – March 20.
