Marvel Studios pretty much broke the internet earlier today when they showed off Tom Holland’s Spider-Man at the end of the new trailer for Captain America: Civil War, and fans have spent every second since discussing his take on the iconic wall-crawler.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director James Gunn has already praised Captain America: Civil War on social media, but following the release of the new look at the movie, he responded to fans on Twitter by declaring that the In the Heart of the Sea star in the best Peter Parker to date.

That’s high praise, especially as both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield did great things with the character (though neither of their portrayals arguably made fans 100% happy).

It’s hard to imagine that this new Spider-Man will only factor into that massive airport battle in Captain America: Civil War, and it definitely feels like he has more than just a cameo in the first Phase 3 movie. It will be interesting now to see if he’s featured in any more marketing materials; at the very least, putting him on a poster seems like a wise move on Marvel’s part.

We’ll just have to wait and see on that front, but for now, check out Gunn’s Spider-Man/Captain America: Civil War comments below and let us know what you think.
