Due to make a beeline for Sony’s console in mid-April, the studio is aiming to overhaul the very first entry in the sci-fi franchise, only with “modern controls, new planets, new and improved gameplay, all-new boss fights, and an updated arsenal.”

Perhaps more than anything, ludicrous weaponry is the one thing that helped separate Ratchet & Clank from its platforming peers, and we’re pleased to report that the snippet above arrives guns blazing. It’s taken from Planet Novalis, with Aridia and Kerwan also receiving the spotlight – regardless of where the titular duo are exploring, the environments and character animations are something to behold.

Ratchet & Clank will deploy on PlayStation 4 come April 12, lending you plenty of time to get reacquainted with the finest heroes in all the galaxy before Sony’s animated feature opens in theaters the following week.
