Jack Bauer may be absent from 24: Legacy, Fox’s small screen revival of the acclaimed action series, but that hasn’t quelled the network’s enthusiasm to line its roster with top-notch talent.

Adding to that ensemble today, we now have word of Black Mirror actor Ashley Thomas boarding the reboot in a key role; specifically, to star opposite Corey Hawkins’ military lead, Eric Carter. Returning home to American soil after a stint serving in the armed forces overseas, Hawkins’ protagonist struggles with both PTSD and a personal life that is left hanging by a thread – a feeling amplified by the fact that his former girlfriend (Anna Diop) is now in a relationship with Ashely Thomas’ Isaac Carter.

But a rom-com this is not. 24: Legacy may kick Kiefer Sutherland’s hardboiled agent to the curb, but in attracting a fresh new cast, Fox will still anchor the serialized drama around the CTU (Counter Terrorist Unit). And much of that new threat will stem from Carter’s military past. Unbeknownst to him, Hawkins’ lead has ignited a new wave of terrorism on home soil, forcing the CTU’s leading players to scramble in order to prevent what could be “one of the largest-scale terror attacks on American soil.” What would Jack Bauer do?

Also starring Miranda Otto, Teddy Sears, Dan Bucatinsky and Jimmy Smits, 24: Legacy is due to make its bow later in 2016. Will you be tuning in?
