When Nintendo announced that they’d be giving DSi owners a free gift this fall, in the form of The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords multiplayer, they didn’t mention which version it would be. As you may recall, there are two: the original one that shipped with the Game Boy Advance version of A Link to the Past, as well as a GameCube iteration. Both offered four player multiplayer – a first for the franchise.

Speaking to Joystiq recently, Nintendo confirmed that the gift will in fact be the original version from the Game Boy Advance, making sure to mention that it will be separate from the GameCube version. Though they didn’t go into detail about any potential upgrades or changes.

The downloadable free gift will be available in September.
