Three Fields Entertainment’s anarchic sports game Dangerous Golf has been delayed by a month, according to the game’s creative director, Alex Ward. The arcady, extreme sports title was announced back in January to be releasing on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC as a digital-only title, and is the brainchild of former Criterion employees and Burnout series creators, Alex Ward and Fiona Sperry.

Just in case you’re worried that the two of them have traded high-octane, vehicular action to make a game about – some would say – a rather boring sport, don’t be. Three Fields intends for Dangerous Golf to be just as destructive and over the top as that series.

In the original announcement interview with VideoGamer, Ward said the title is “as serious a golf game as Burnout was a serious simulation to driving games. We wanted to mix the attitude of Burnout with the destruction of Black whilst setting the golf ball on fire. It’s very inspired by NBA Jam, which is a great, great sports game and something I still think about a lot. Obviously you’re going to set the ball on fire and cause a load of destruction. It’s just fun and silly and different, and it might be strangely familiar to some people who know our stuff.”

Three Fields have yet to give a reason for the delay – a simple confirmation that it has, in fact, been pushed back by a month was revealed by Ward on his Twitter account. We haven’t had any new information or gameplay footage of Dangerous Golf in action just yet, but it’s looking like the exact same blend of crazy and fun that made the Burnout series so remarkable. Let’s just hope the release date doesn’t slip even further into 2016.
