Olivia Wilde has revealed she was once in contention for the role of Naomi Lapaglia in Martin Scorsese’s award-winning The Wolf of Wall Street.

Before Margot Robbie clinched the coveted part opposite Leonardo DiCaprio, Wilde was one of the many actresses shortlisted. Yesterday, Wilde opened up about being linked with the part on The Howard Stern Show. According to the Tron: Legacy actress, who was 28 at the time, those involved in the casting process considered her “too old” for the role, ultimately settling on the 25-year-old Robbie.

Shedding light on the matter, here’s what Wilde had to share:

“I had heard for a part that I was too sophisticated. I was like, oh, that sounds nice … and then I found out later that they actually said ‘old.’ “Sophisticated” might be a code word in Hollywood — for “old.”

In anticipation of her comments being taken out of context, the actress went on to say via Twitter that missing out on The Wolf of Wall Street lead to Wilde landing a part in HBO’s musical drama Vinyl, and that in her eyes, Margot Robbie stole the show as Naomi Lapaglia.

Beyond The Wolf of Wall Street, Olivia Wilde can next be seen in Vinyl along with Black Dog, Red Dog. As for Robbie, she’ll be rubbing shoulders with the remainder of Task Force X in August for David Ayer’s Suicide Squad.
