Man Up actress, director and writer Lake Bell is firing up production on her latest creative endeavour, What’s the Point? (And Other Fair Questions About Marriage), and it’s been revealed that The Hangover star Ed Helms has boarded the cast.

Earning the financial backing of both Cold Iron Pictures and The Film Arcade, plans are now in place for the film to get the cameras rolling in Los Angeles next month. Featuring a script by Bell herself, What’s the Point? is billed as the spiritual successor to 2013 Sundance hit In A World…, which earned the writer-director critical acclaim and a Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award to boot.

An ensemble comedy at its core, What’s the Point? will breakdown the concept of marriage piece by piece, raising the question as to whether monogamy should be a contractual agreement that spans seven years with the option to renew. Currently, only Bell and Ed Helms are attached to star, but we fully expect casting to heat up over the coming weeks if production really is to get underway in April.

But Bell’s commitment to What’s the Point? doesn’t stop at directing, given that she is also poised to produce the comedy alongside Miranda Bailey (Diary of a Teenage Girl) and Amanda Marshall. Jason Beck and Andy Bohn, meanwhile, will produce on behalf of The Film Arcade.
