Though he’s conducted more than his fair share of scientific experiments in hit comedy The Big Bang Theory, Jim Parsons will be making the jump to the big screen via Warner Bros.’ supernatural comedy, Man-Witch.

The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop, noting that the addition of Parsons heralds a chance for the studio to pump fresh blood into the dormant project – both Jack Black and Zach Galifianakis were attached to topline the feature before dropping out – and it’s understood the small screen stalwart will assist in producing Man-Witch opposite Neal Moritz.

First hatched at Warner back in 2005, it was Hangover director Todd Phillips that was in line to helm the picture, however the filmmaker eventually joined Black and Galifianakis out the exit door when other projects came calling.

Now, more than a decade later, the studio appears to have settled on its Man-Witch, with Parsons set to play the role of a school teacher “who abruptly discovers he’s got witchlike powers. A coven of real witches takes him in, promptly sending him to “witch school,” where he is the lone adult, surrounded by little girl witches-in-training.”

Parsons’ previous film credits include Zach Braff’s two directorial efforts Wish I Was Here and Garden State, along with a small role in The Muppets back in 2011. Man-Witch, then, represents a rare occasion where the actor will be the lead star of a feature film, and we’re fascinated to see how it pans out.
