Alec Baldwin and Scott Eastwood are bound for a dark, gritty and futuristic version of LA – and we’re not talking Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2.

According to Deadline, Baldwin and Eastwood have been tapped to star in Crown Vic, a pulsing crime thriller arriving by way of writer-director Joel Souza. Filming has been pegged to get underway in the summer, when the two stars will portray a pair of “LAPD officers navigating through their own personal turmoil while hunting down a couple of vicious cop killers.” Jim Valdez and Chris Barish are attached to produce the new drama on behalf of Brand Inc Group banner, with Gregg Bello also lending his support.

Grizzled law enforcers on the hunt for cop killers reads like a crime noir in the making, though it remains to be seen what kind of tone Souza and Co. will settle for.

As for Crown Vic‘s newfound stars, Baldwin recently wrapped up work on Blind and Drunk Parents, while Scott Eastwood can next be seen as part of David Ayer’s ensemble for Suicide Squad. Indeed, today’s casting tidbit is just another feather in the cap for the actor, who also has roles in bootlegging thriller Live By Night and Oliver Stone’s long-anticipated political thriller, Snowden, in the pipeline.

Los Angeles plays host to Crown Vic from July 1, when Joel Souza will fire up production on his seedy crime thriller.
