RL Grime has remained relatively quiet on the release front so far in 2016, but it looks like that’s about to change. In addition to a series of tracks and remixes that he made available for preview on his SoundCloud account a couple weeks ago, the hip-hop/bass music producer has also uploaded the mesmerizing video for a new track titled “Aurora.”

An ethereal, genre-bending piece of ambient trap music built around echoey vocal samples, “Aurora” succeeds in stepping outside the EDM formula while still managing to resonate with the sensibilities of a wide audience. As far as the video is concerned, it’s made up entirely of GoPro footage from a weather balloon in various stages of orbit, which is pretty damn cool.

If all of his other upcoming releases are as strong as what he’s delivered on “Aurora,” RL Grime is gearing up for a promising 2016 festival season. Check out the video for the track in the player above and keep on the lookout for more in the months to follow.
