Considering that we still haven’t had an official plot announcement yet from Marvel, we’re pretty happy that almost every single week continues to bring another wedge of intel on the Norse god’s third outing, Thor: Ragnarok.
Casting is currently heating up on the threequel, which finds Chris Hemsworth’s titular warrior definitely joined by the Hulk and probably by Loki, Sif and Nick Fury. There’s also the still-unconfirmed role nabbed by Cate Blanchett, which is more than likely going to be Hela.
We now know that Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster won’t be back, and director Taiki Waititi has ushered in a new female lead in the shape of Creed‘s Tessa Thompson. So, the question on everyone’s lips is: who’s she playing?
The initial report claims that the actress is signed up for several MCU movies, and if Latino Review‘s latest rumor is true, then it’s going to be an ass-kicker of a role. Want to know more? There’s the potential for some major spoilers here, so considered yourself warned…

As has been rumored for some time, Blanchett plays Hela, the Asgardian Goddess of Death, who plans to destroy Asgard and bring about a gigantic battle between the living and the dead. The site claims that her villainy will be matched by hordes of Valkyries from Valhalla, who are led by one particular character who goes simply by the name Valkyrie. Thompson is reportedly playing the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of the character.
While unconfirmed at this stage, it certainly syncs up with Deadline’s description outlining her as “a kind of superhero and will appear in other Marvel films as well.” It’s thought that one of those movies will be Avengers: Infinity War, which isn’t a surprise as it seems every character from the MCU is lined up for that two-parter.
In any case, we’ll find out for certain what Waititi and writer Stephany Folsom has in store for Thompson when Thor: Ragnarok charges into theaters on November 3, 2017.
