Deadline is reporting that Sony has their sights set on the dynamic duo of Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart for their upcoming Jumanji remake. The two actors, who are amongst the busiest in Hollywood, will soon be headlining New Line’s Central Intelligence and recently hosted the MTV Movie Awards, proving that they’ve got great chemistry together and make for a very entertaining pair.

Neither actor has signed on just yet, though the studio is trying their best to make it work. Unfortunately though, they may have a tough time. As we mentioned above, both Johnson and Hart are exceptionally busy and have very full schedules. Finding a time that works for both of them will prove to be quite challenging, but we’re hoping Sony can make it work out.

As for the remake itself, it is of course based on the 1995 film of the same name, which had Joe Johnston behind the camera and Robin Williams and Kirsten Dunst in front. This version is said to “reimagine the original family adventure film and update it for the present.”

That’s pretty vague, of course, but seeing as the studio wants Hart and Johnson to star, it likely means that they’re going for a strong comedic angle, which is fine by us. Other than that, however, we really don’t know too much about what Sony is planning just yet.

We’re definitely on board with having these two actors lead the film, though. Johnson and Hart are some of the most charismatic and fun to watch screen presences in Hollywood at the moment, and they’d certainly be able to bring the required energy and comedy to a Jumanji remake. It’s going to be difficult to get their schedules to line up, but if Sony can make it work, we’ll be in for a treat.

Jumanji will be directed by Jake Kasdan and once we hear anything more on the casting front, we’ll be sure to let you know.
